On August 30, 2004 North Attleboro and Umass-Dartmouth Alumni Justin Shockro was involved in a tragic accident in North Attleboro’s Falls Pond. He was 24 years old at the time and had his whole life ahead of him. After the incident, all of his friends came together and started an annual benefit at the VFW hall in North Attleboro to raise money for a scholarship fund in his name.
Each year the Justin Shockro Memorial Scholarship Fund is able to give scholarships to two deserving students from North Attleboro High School to assist in their continuing education and also help ensure Justin’s name and memory will always live on.
Saturday, February 16th, 2008 was the 3rd annual benefit for Justin's scholarship. It involved a show by Fever Dream and a raffle consisting of donated items, which provide even more funds to put towards the scholarships. This year’s raffle included a number of autographed sports photos; an assortment of about 10 gift cards and a Lofa Tatupu autographed/game used jersey.
